Younger buyers of homes overseas

14/11/2006

Overseas property buyers in Spain are younger than ever, according to a new survey.

Half of those buying property in Spain were under 34 years old with only 4% over 65, says the Banco Halifax Hispania poll. And, overall, 10% of Britons who own property abroad are under 25.

Ian Smith, head of European operations at Halifax, said, "It has long been assumed that only the older generation is buying property in Spain, but this is far from the case, as it is also proving to be a popular location among younger age groups.

“Spain is an ideal destination to set up a second home as British people can benefit from shorter, more frequent trips to their property at affordable prices.”
